Quality Continuous Improvement Centre for Community Education & Training, Newcomer Centre requires an Administrative Assistant.

Summary: This position provides administrative support to the Manager and Information Counsellors at the Newcomer Information Centres located in Malton, Brampton East Campus, City South Campus and Mississauga.

Reporting to: Team Leader, Newcomer Information Centre

Responsibilities:

  • Create flyers, calendars and other promotional material for NIC.
  • Respond to client inquiries by phone and in person
  • Register clients and organize client questionnaires and evaluations
  • Maintain and update database
  • Assist in the compilation of statistical reports
  • Perform typing, photocopying, filing and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain inventory control of resource materials and other necessary documents
  • Assist with the production and distribution of promotional materials
  • Perform other related duties for program delivery as required
  • Will be required to work some evenings and Saturdays in Brampton or Mississauga offices

Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel)
  • Experience in database management
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Knowledge of French or a language other than English is most desirable
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task, take initiative and be able to meet regular deadlines

This is a full-time temporary position, schedueld to work 35 hours per week
Start date: November 30, 2009 to March 31, 2010
Salary: $36,000-$37,000
Location: Peel Region
