Immigrant Women on the Move Employment Program Information Session
The Toronto District School Board, Immigrant Women on the Move Project will assist multi-barrier immigrant women to prepare for the Canadian labour market with the goal of obtaining employment, by providing three-week pre-employment workshops.
During the three-week program you will be able to:
- Create job search tools and job leads
- Assist with confidence-boosting and how to overcome perceived employment barriers
- Fine tune techniques for a successful interview/job search
- Sharpen your listening and communication skills
- Learn what the Canadian job market is today
- Conflict Resolution and rapport building
Eligibility Requirements:
- Unemployed Immigrant Women with little or no Canadian work experience
- Entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Must have a return to work action plan that identifies the IWOM as the most appropriate intervention
- Must be experiencing multiple barriers to employment
- Must be at least a LINC level 4
- Must be committed to completing the workshop and work with the Job Developer in their job search
Workshops will run from Monday to Friday during three week sessions.
Next workshop sessions runs from November 16 to December 4, 2009.
