About the Constellation

Overview

The Constellation uses interactive self-publishing online tools that allow for the automatic sharing of content across a number of web sites and uses a community-driven approach to develop content from a variety of stakeholders across Ontario. Partnering Constellation members share news, events, jobs, and resources.

Any agency can post their own information to any of the partner’s web sites, which, if approved for posting, is automatically fed to all partner organizations.  Each agency in the Constellation has a different editorial policy in terms of web site content. The group has developed a number of "best practices" that allow each member to benefit from the pooling of resources and at the same time be respectful of one another's online content priorities.

Current Status of the Project

The project is in its seventh year and currently has 12 partners with ACTEW as the lead. With funding from the Trillium Foundation, ACTEW is conducting workshops in various locations across Ontario. The primary objective is to demonstrate how to create, develop and sustain technology partnerships based on the lessons learned over the years from the constellation project. ACTEW has hired regional trainers to conduct workshops on partnership development and/or interagency collaborative technology development.

A series of manuals have also been developed and are free for workshop participants. The cost of each manual is $20 and $50 for a package of three.
