The Ministry of the Attorney General’s Ontario Victims Services Secretariat has funded ACTEW in partnership with Springtide Resources, to develop and pilot workshops for employment practitioners on employment-related issues for abuse survivors. One of the best ways for women to escape cycles of violence for themselves and their children is to obtain economic self sufficiency.
ACTEW and Springtide Resources will work in partnership to:
- Bridge the information gap between the career development and violence prevention sectors
- Develop and deliver a series of 6 professional development workshops for front-line career development practitioners
- Facilitate information-sharing of promising practices offered through the educational workshops among front-line practitioners.
The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General has granted $6 million to over 107 community agencies across Ontario to help victims of crime. The grants are part of a more than $15 million three-year program aimed at enhancing and developing programs and services for victims of crime and provided through the Victims’ Justice Fund.
Recipients of the 2007-2008 grants include several ACTEW member agencies as well, such as: Women Today of Huron, Opportunity for Advancement, Scarborough Women’s Centre and Springtide Resources.
