Building its work on consultations with dozens of organizations serving newcomers to Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is conducting a national Review of its Newcomer's Guide to Canadian Housing (the Guide). The Review is intended to identify ways of improving the information which CMHC provides to newcomers to Canada and to organizations providing services to newcomers. CMHC has retained the services of SPR Associates Inc. to conduct the Review.
The Newcomers Guide is a 44-page booklet, which is available for download on CMHC's website. The Guide contains information on renting, buying a home, landlord-tenant relations, and many other housing-related topics.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could complete a brief web survey which should only take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey asks about overall awareness and use of the Guide, the housing information needs of newcomers, and your suggestions/comments about how the Guide could be improved. We would also greatly appreciate it if you could forward this E-mail to your colleagues, associate organizations and/or staff, requesting their participation in the survey. The survey can be completed even if you have never seen the Guide.
The survey can be completed by organization staff who counsel recent immigrants, but it will be particularly informative to CMHC if the survey is completed by persons who are aware of, and help to meet, housing needs of newcomers to Canada.

Please note that the survey is completely confidential once completed -- survey responses will not be seen by CMHC -- only SPR researchers will see individual's answers and no identifying information will be revealed in any study reports arising from the survey. A copy of the CMHC report containing the study results will be made available to all those participating in the survey.
