ELT Work Placement Coordinator

Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services (PICS) requires an ELT Placement Coordinator.

PICS is a settlement agency providing a range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status.

The ELT Placement Facilitator will assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of the program with a focus on securing volunteer work placements and on follow-up support activities in accordance with the project policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities:
Secure and supervise unpaid work placement for the participants and provide follow-up support to both participants and the participating agencies/providers

  • Build and maintain positive partnerships with placement hosts organizations;
  • Coordinate the Post-Placement support activities including arranging guest speakers;
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and end of year statistical and narrative reports;
  • Assist in promoting, outreaching activities and recruiting participants;
  • Network with community organizations and agencies offering employment services;
  • Create promotional materials and correspond with pertinent agencies;
  • Provide recommendations on ELT Program improvements

Qualifications:

  • University degree in the social services field
  • Experience in job search facilitation and employment counselling
  • Excellent knowledge of employment and education/skills training programs and local community services
  • Knowledge of settlement, social and education issues and barriers experienced by newcomer families
  • Excellent communication, planning, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Self-directed, self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Ability to work independently with flexible working hours, including evenings or weekends

This is a full-time position schedule to work 35 hrs/week
