Project Manager, Content-Sharing Constellation

ACTEW requires a Project Manager for the Content-Sharing Constellation.

Summary:
The Project Manager position is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the Constellation Project Phase 2 to the end of November 2008. The Project Manager will be responsible for all implementation and completion of project activities, which includes development and dissemination of training materials, overseeing a team of trainers implementing training workshops throughout Ontario, developing additional partnerships for the Constellation, finalizing Constellation promotional materials including a web site, and engaging in a comprehensive evaluation of the project.

About the Content-Sharing Constellation:
The goal of the Constellation Project is to create a network of community-based training (CBT) agencies throughout Ontario, using the internet and the online Constellation Project database to collect and distribute news, jobs, resources and events easily across the sector. Building upon the existing collaboration and project learnings, the Constellation Project provides training for CBT agencies throughout the province designed to increase their capacity to disseminate and research information online, as well as learn how to collaborate with other organizations on technology-driven projects. Note that this project is in its final year for Phase 2; we are looking for a qualified candidate to meet all remaining project deliverables within specific timelines. RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Capacity-Building

  • oversee the delivery of regional training workshops to CBT agencies around Ontario; this position may also deliver workshops
  • consult with, and co-facilitate, various advisory groups related to the Constellation Project
  • prepare and deliver written and public presentations and workshops about the Constellation Project to ACTEW members, funders, key stakeholders and the general public as required
Evaluation
  • collect and analyze a range of qualitative and qualitative information sources related to the Women’s Online Training Community tools for the purposes of continuous improvement and reporting
  • identify, through a RFP process an appropriate external evaluate, and work with the incumbent to formally evaluate the project
Promotion / Outreach
  • Initiate, develop, and support partnerships within the Content-Sharing Constellation
  • Provide orientation, training, support and ongoing communications with current and potential Constellation Partners
  • outreach and liaise with the community-based employment and training sector, women’s service providers, and the general public about ACTEW and the Women’s Online Training Community
  • represent ACTEW and our various online projects to the external community at events, in advisory committees and working groups, and/or in online discussions or email lists
Content and Technical Development
  • oversee/maintain ACTEW's web site, including all written content submitted to the Constellation, keeping with ACTEW’s style guides
  • Finalize content for the Constellation promotional web site
  • preparation, writing and distribution of regularly scheduled (monthly) email bulletins
  • training and supporting Constellation partner staff on posting/approving content according to the established content and style guidelines
  • work with ACTEW’s technical consultants to maintain and enhance the functionality of the Women’s Online Training Community database-driven applications (News, Events, Jobs, E-Library, Looking for Training?, and Skills and Knowledge Profile)
  • manage all Internet-based technical services for ACTEW, including web hosting services, email, and email list administration and set-up
Project Reporting
  • prepare final report and financial claims for funders, and maintain funder relations
  • ensure work plan and project objectives are completed in an effective and timely manner

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Extensive experience in project management in the non-profit/voluntary sector
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and facilitating community-based online initiatives
  • Solid understanding of database-driven web applications, web site design, HTML, and email list administration
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (some evening and weekend hours will be required)
  • Understanding of issues affecting women's access to the labour market
  • Understanding of community-based training and employment sector, as well as the larger voluntary sector
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills, including strong offline and online facilitation skills
  • Ability to research, synthesize and disseminate information related to employment, training and labour force development policy using plain language
  • Experience and demonstrated capacity for developing and delivering hands-on Internet training workshops
  • Experience in coalition building, community development, and community-based programming
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently, and to ask for help when needed
  • Well organized, good problem-solving abilities, creativity and a sense of humour
  • Willingness and ability to travel to communities across southern and central Ontario to deliver community workshops

Salary: commensurate with experience
Contract Duration: February 11, 2008 to November 28, 2008 (10 months)
