Social Services Network for the York Region (SSN) is a United Way of York Region member agency whose aim is to serve the needs of the diverse South Asian community. SSN’s mandate is to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate direct services to the South Asian community in York Region through partnerships developed with other service providers. Specifically, SSN strives to promote and enhance an independent and enriched community life.
The Executive Director will be a dynamic leader capable of working with volunteers and community partners to move the agency to new levels of service and influence.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the effective performance of the Agency in the fulfilment of its mission within the by-laws, policy framework, budgetary and executive guidelines set by the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Initiate, develop and achieve strategic and long-range plans consistent with Board established priorities and directions. Expand partnerships in the community.
- Organizational Effectiveness: Ensure effective implementation and administration of all programs and operations.
- Finances and Stewardship: Ensure effective, efficient and responsible management of all aspects of the Agency’s financial affairs including budget preparation, in consonance with strategic and operational objectives of the Organization.
- Staff Competencies: Ensure effective professional supervision and adherence to best practices. Develop and maintain a highly motivated staff by creating productive and inclusive work environment.
- Community Relations: Promote and strengthen the profile of the Agency in the community through public relations strategies, the pursuit and securement of diverse funding sources and the fostering of positive and supportive interagency relationships.
- Board Support: Provide leadership, information and advice in support of effective Board functioning.
- Results Oriented. Committed to realization of the organisation’s vision.
- Sustainability. Pursue opportunities to increase the organizational capacity via sustainable growth. Proven capacity in proposal writing, management and reporting is essential. Develop and maintain positive and strategic partnerships with funders, social agencies, institutions, and the community at large. Advocate for healthy public policy and equal access to necessary resources.
Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent in related social or business field.
- Proven experience in program development, administrative and financial management experience in community or social services setting or related field.
- A working knowledge of employment acts and standards.
- Experience working in a charitable organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.
- Excellent skills in communication, team building, problem solving and change management.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community.
- Ability to motivate supervise, delegate, and evaluate staff and manage conflicts.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and complex projects.
- Committed to advocate for Inclusivity, diversity and equality.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
- Working knowledge of systems to navigate thru reports and databases.
- Demonstrated success with grant writing, fundraising, and fund acquisition is essential.
- Demonstrated experience at a management level with a focus on strategic direction and leadership.
- Professional in dealing effectively with a wide variety of key stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation and relationship building skills to ensure goals and objectives are understood, and that critical issues are identified and addressed.
