This event for career / employment counselors and trainers is set for June 19 2007 at the beautiful lakefront LIUNA Gardens in Grimsby, Ontario. This full day event is a mix of guest speakers and informal networking activities for frontline staff, managers and project officers in the Hamilton - Niagara corridor. Career practitioners from the outside the area are also welcome to attend.

ACTEW will be facilitating a keynote workshop Connecting Government Policy to Our Community Work: A Dialogue to Understand and Strengthen Ontario’s Employment Training System. This workshop will have two parts:
1) In the first half, representatives from the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities and representatives from Service Canada will present on policy and programming shifts for the employment and training sector in Ontario. The representatives will answer questions from the audience.
2) Workshop participants will be guided through a participatory exercise to identify the opportunities, challenges and gaps in their communities. The results will provide feedback to government representatives to help shape programming and policy in the next 2 years.

A nominal cost recovery fee [ about $35.00 per person ] to cover all food breaks for the day as well as a great luncheon BBQ will be required.

Last year more than 150 service providers representing more than 100 organizations attended the event as well as representatives from Service Canada and Service Ontario/ Employment Ontario.
