"A Framework for Understanding Poverty" is one of a series of events presented by the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction from February 5 – 7, 2008 to tell the community what is happening in schools to alleviate the effects of poverty and how to get involved in anti-poverty initiatives.
Partners in Education Reducing Poverty
An invitation to professionals working with children and families:
- Many of our children are living in poverty and go to school without the essential resources that prepare them to learn.
- In Hamilton, 1 in 4 of all children under the age of 12 live in poverty.
- Education is an essential way to break the cycle of poverty & achieve success
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty
Reduction have partnered to present a series of events that will inform our community
about what is happening in our schools with respect to alleviating the effects of poverty,
how to get involved in anti-poverty initiatives that result in student achievement, and
forge new partnerships and sustain existing ones that benefit our students.
Please join us in the hope that together, we can work to improve the quality of
life for our most vulnerable students and help to alleviate poverty in Hamilton.
